All the walls are down! The floor is coming up, and reconstruction starts soon! We can see it taking shape a little more every day.

Demo as of 7-29-2010:

Things are moving right along! The demo to the walls on the North and West sides are complete, only the South side to go!

The floor decision has been made! This is what we are going with. We took every linen sample from every linen company we could find and checked it against this floor color. Everything from white to black, bright to soft, chartreuse to pomegranate will look great on this! NO COLOR RESTRICTIONS HERE!

We can now see the span of the North Ballroom! And what a view it is!!! It's a BIG MESS but we are seeing a lot of progress.

The demo as of 7-16-2010. WOW! They sure got a lot done last night! We can almost see the panoramic view on the North side!!! Kelly E. and Vince stopped by at 11:00p to say hi to the demo guys. There must have been 14 workers up there! Kelly R. and Vince found some hard hats today! Can't wait for next week.

7-14-2010: Demolition has begun! Walls are coming down and expectations are going up! We have been given a go-ahead for October 2^nd to be the first “Bookable” date. Call Kelly Robertson for rental information – (260)385-7104

We started phase one of construction last night with our “Wall Banging” Ceremony, complete with our specialty drink for the night; Harvey Wallbangers, of course! Our owners, Kelly Early and Sue Thomas-Crannell got the demolition under way! It was a great event and was covered by channels 8 and 13. Our contractors are going in this week and we are booking events for October!

These papers in Kelly’s hand make it official. Thomas Caterers of Distinction has officially taken possession of the 48^th Floor at the Chase Tower! Don't worry, that's not a worried look on her face, she's just doing business!

The papers have been signed, the groundwork has been laid. Construction will start soon! Right now the space is filled with old office walls, loose wires and old memories. Get ready for a REBIRTH INDY!!! When construction is complete, this space will be the Hottest Event Venue in Indy! In the State of Indiana for that matter!! Possibly the COUNTRY!!! Follow on this blog as we document the progress of construction on D’Amore!

The Indianapolis Monthly Bridal Show yesterday was thrilling. Thanks to all who stopped by the booth. We met so many new friends and we look forward to getting to know you all better. The enthusiasm is contagious. We get more and more excited as we talk about it. Anticipation is building and we are thrilled at the responses and feedback we are getting. We can’t wait to show D’Amore to you! We plan to start scheduling tours for after June 21^st. Stay tuned…

Origin of the name D'Amore

The name D’Amore is very special to us. In addition to the word itself being synonymous with Love, D’Amore is a family name of Sue Thomas-Crannell and her daughter Kelly Early, Co-Owners of Thomas Caterers of Distinction. Pictured are (from left) Sue’s Mother Adele D'Amore, Aunt Rose D'Amore (beautiful bride), Grandmother Assunta D'Amore and Grandfather Joe D'Amore. Though they are no longer with us, Adele passed away when Sue was just 6 years old, and Aunt Rosie, who raised Sue passed just recently, we fondly honor their memory. We at Thomas Caterers of Distinction have always prided ourselves in being a family-oriented company, as well as a close nit family in our office. Therefore it is only fitting that we remind ourselves of our deep commitment to our family members both personally and professionally who have been so instrumental in helping make this vision a reality. Thanks to you all, but this is only the beginning. Enjoy the ride!
